Common estimates suggest that it could be up to 10 times as much as your packaging compliance cost in 2017, however this is a very vague forecast. Other factors within the packaging legislation changes such as modulated fees could vary packaging producers costs dramatically. It may also be affected by a change to a single point of compliance instead of the current shared responsibility through the supply chain.
It is also important to consider that, alongside EPR, there may be a Deposit Return System that could incur additional costs to packaging producers and the Plastic Packaging Tax will be introduced in April 2022.
Extended Producer Responsibility is only one part of the Government’s plan to reform the UK Packaging Waste Regulations. As a result of the reform, your business may also be affected by The Plastic Packaging Tax or Deposit Return Schemes. Use the buttons below to find out more information.
