Clarity Environmental Supports National Trust coastline appeal

We have donated to the National Trust in support of their appeal to protect our coastline. Our donation of £3,000 will help the National Trust to maintain a coastal mile for a year

We have donated to the National Trust in support of their appeal to protect our coastline.

Alongside caring for 500 properties, 250,000 hectares of countryside, the National Trust also cares for 780 miles of coastline in England, Wales and Northern Ireland – including some iconic landmarks, such as the Giant’s Causeway and land at the White Cliffs of Dover.

The National Trust’s coast appeal has been running since 1965 and has helped the charity care for hundreds of miles of coastline, including creating and maintaining coastal paths, restoring and enhancing coastal habitat and monitoring and looking after coastal wildlife.

Our donation of £3,000 will help the National Trust maintain a coastal mile for a year, support which reflects our business mission to help improve lives, protect nature and make the environment around us a better place to live. The donation contributes to our commitment to divert at least 1 per cent of our profits to charitable causes or awareness campaigns.

The last 12 months have been hard on the charity sector and we have looked to support those organisations that have been particularly impacted. Many of us have enjoyed and connected with our local environment more than ever before. But the UK charities that restore, champion and care for our land, coastline, woodland, wetlands and meadows have experienced a dramatic loss of income as a result of the closure of visitor attractions, cancelled fundraising and decreased donations. This could have a lasting impact on their ability to care for our land, protect our wildlife, and tackle climate change and nature’s decline for years to come.

Lucy Brooks, Head of Communications at Clarity Environmental, said: “The charity sector has been hit hard by the pandemic and lockdown restrictions. Our teams felt very strongly that they wanted our Clarity Cares donations to support the organisations that have been impacted the most over the last year – from the environment that we have relied upon so heavily during lockdown, to those working on the frontline.

“With our offices being a stone’s throw from Brighton seafront, we value the coastal landscape and are passionate about the protection of our beaches. Whilst many of us have enjoyed our outdoor spaces more than ever this year, they are also under increasing threat and we are pleased to have been able to donate to the National Trust’s coast appeal to support the work they do to protect them.
