Regain is the only charity dedicated to helping British men and women who have become tetraplegic as a result of a sporting injury, whether that be from a rugby, horse riding, trampolining, diving or gymnastics accident.

This unique charity provides lightweight and electric wheelchairs that enable those with limited movement in their arms to move themselves around and perform day-to-day tasks. They also provide specialist wheelchairs that can help those who want to get back into sports, and computers with voice activated software, transforming the available educational and employment opportunities.

Communications Manager, Lucy Brooks, recommended the Regain charity to the Clarity Cares committee after hearing how it had transformed the life of her friend, Piers Stone, who was injured in a skiing accident. Clarity Cares donated £1,500 in Quarter 4 of 2018.

On hearing about the donation, Piers said:

“Regain offers a lifeline to those who have suffered a cervical spinal injury providing grants for specialist equipment, practical and emotional support to help people live independently. The charity has also enabled me to hold onto my sense of adventure and has allowed me to continue to physically challenge myself. Over the years I have taken part in many Regain hand cycling adventures across the world, riding through Kenya, Cuba, Egypt amongst others, whilst also raising money for Regain.

“I was blown away when I heard about the very generous donation from Clarity. These much-needed funds will help the charity in its vital work to give independence to someone who has had a life-changing accident like myself.”
